Universitas Syiah Kuala Sent the Post-earthquake Reconnaissance Survey Team

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 occurred on November 21, 2022 at 13.21 WIB impacted the Cianjur district, West Java Province. The epicenter of the earthquake was assumed at a depth of 11 km and it had caused severe damage to several sub-districts in Cianjur Regency. Some public facilities and residential houses were severely damage.
Syiah Kuala University sent a reconnaissance survey team to analyze the impact caused by the Cianjur earthquake. This initial assessment team departed for Cianjur on December 6, 2022. The team was coordinated by Dr. Yunita Idris, and consists of 4 research members namely Adrian Ulza, Cut Nella Asyifa, Aulia Khalqiillah, and Arifullah.

The survey focused on school buildings and residential houses. The team has made coordination with the PUPR joint task force Post in Cianjur and the Cianjur Educational department Office.
The survey was carried out to obtain data on the distribution of damage and later to assess the vulnerability of typical school buildings and houses due to the earthquake. There were about 54 schools and 96 houses have been surveyed. The survey will continue until Saturday 10 December 2022.
