TDMRC USK Holds Workshop on Strengthening IJDM Management Toward Scopus Indexing

Banda Aceh, September 25, 2025 – The Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center (TDMRC), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), through its Disaster Mitigation Unit, organized a Workshop on Strengthening the Management of the Indonesian Journal of Disaster Management (IJDM) at the Meeting Room TDMRC Building, Darussalam, Banda Aceh. The event aimed to enhance the capacity of IJDM’s editorial and reviewer teams, with a strong focus on improving editorial quality and review processes in preparation for future Scopus indexing.

The workshop was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Ir. Nasrul, S.T., M.T., Vice Chair of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) at USK. In his remarks, he emphasized LPPM’s full support for efforts to strengthen the governance of scientific journals within the university, particularly those managed by TDMRC. He highlighted that improving journal quality is a crucial step in elevating USK’s academic reputation and research contributions at both the national and international levels.

The program began with an address from the Head of the Disaster Mitigation Unit, Prof. Dr. Syamsidik, S.T., M.Sc, who underscored the importance of maintaining consistent quality in scientific publications in the field of disaster studies. Key sessions included the presentation of the IJDM Road Map Toward Scopus Indexing by Dr. Alfi Rahman, S.I.Kom., M.Si., Ph.D, and a session titled “Becoming a Standard Reviewer” which discussed standards and ethics in the peer review process. Participants, comprising IJDM editors and reviewers, also took part in hands-on activities, including article review distribution and group evaluation sessions. Strengthening Sustainability Through this workshop, TDMRC USK reaffirmed its commitment to developing IJDM into a highly reputable journal. The goal is not only to provide a platform for publishing disaster-related research in Indonesia but also to position IJDM as a global reference in advancing disaster science and mitigation knowledge.
