The TDMRC team explained the TDMRC In-Saintek 2025 program to the Head of the Tourism Office and staff
The research team from TDMRC USK was led by the Chief Organizer of the In-Saintek Program, Dr. Sylvia Agustina, accompanied by Myna Agustina, ST., MURP, Ir. In the meeting, Dr. Sylvia Agustina explained that TDMRC USK has received a grant for the 2025 In-Saintek Berdampak Program, carrying the theme Science Literacy for Disaster Resilience. She further elaborated that the In-Saintek Program aims to strengthen a robust and sustainable national science and technology (saintek) ecosystem through the active involvement of universities in the dissemination and application of science and technology for the benefit of society.
This year, TDMRC USK will carry out several activities, including:
-
Disaster Science Camp: Enhancing Disaster Literacy on Geohazards 2025
-
Socialization of the Tsunami High-Water Pole and EvaNami to Strengthen Disaster Preparedness
-
Workshop on the Use of Virtual Reality (VR) for Sustainable Environments and Mount Seulawah Volcano Disaster Preparedness
-
Workshop on the Use of SupeRISKa Tools and Building Database for Disaster Management in Banda Aceh
The audience meeting was considered important not only for coordination but also to obtain feedback and suggestions, especially regarding the Socialization of the Tsunami High-Water Pole and EvaNami activities to strengthen disaster preparedness. The activity involves visits to tsunami poles, which serve as historical disaster markers and hold tourism potential.
In his remarks and response, the Head of the Tourism Office of Banda Aceh City, Mr. Said Fauzan, S.STP., MA., warmly welcomed the program. He expressed full support and proposed involving Banda Aceh’s tourism ambassadors as social media drivers for the activities. He also suggested that, since the activity holds significant tourism potential, the tsunami poles visited should be those located at established tsunami tourism destinations in Banda Aceh City. This approach could further develop into edu-tourism activities in Banda Aceh, particularly tsunami tourism, and be linked to the Tourism Office’s social media channels.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the team acknowledged all the suggestions and feedback from the Head of the Tourism Office and agreed to follow up in a subsequent audience meeting.
