Pontianak – On January 14–15, 2025, a research team from the Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center (TDMRC) at Syiah Kuala University (USK), consisting of Prof. Syamsidik, Eka Oktavianus, Wan Akmal, Aulia Khalqillah, and Denny Syaputra, visited the Regional Finance and Asset Agency (BKAD) of West Kalimantan Province and Pontianak City. The visit was led directly by Prof. Syamsidik to pilot the Decision Support System for Disaster Financing and Insurance Based on Threat Characteristics (SupeRISKa), designed by the TDMRC-USK research team for the operational areas of Sumatra and Kalimantan.

Specifically, the team, through Prof. Syamsidik, presented the results of risk potential calculations, including asset loss estimates for regional government-owned properties in West Kalimantan Province and Pontianak City, due to various natural hazards that SupeRISKa can assess. Ultimately, SupeRISKa is expected to serve as a reference for determining premium values for the insurance of regional and national assets.
On the first day, the team was warmly welcomed by Drs. Ahmad Priyono, MM, Head of BKAD West Kalimantan Province, along with several of his staff. He expressed his appreciation for the TDMRC-USK team’s visit and responded positively to the findings presented. He also commended the selection of West Kalimantan Province as a sample in this study. Similarly, the visit was well received by the Head of BKAD Pontianak City, represented by Mr. Viktor, Secretary of BKAD Pontianak City, and attended by several staff members on January 15, 2025.
In general, both the West Kalimantan Provincial Government and the Pontianak City Government have already insured their assets against fire hazards. It is worth noting that West Kalimantan is prone to natural hazards such as floods, landslides, strong winds, and residential fires. However, SupeRISKa currently does not yet include risk potential calculations for regional building asset losses due to residential fires.
It is hoped that this system will assist local governments in determining premium values for budget planning, specifically in the context of insuring regional assets, particularly buildings.
This piloting activity is part of the third year of the Productive Innovative Research (RISPRO) program funded by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia through the Educational Endowment Fund Management Institution (LPDP).
