Medan – TDMRC held a two days training on seismic tomography in Balai Besar BMKG Medan. The training was held on 14-15 December 2023. The training was attended by staff from Balai Besar BMKG Medan and BMKG Tuntungan. 
The instructors of the training were Muksin Umar and Nadiatul Asra from TDRMC, as well as Andrean Simanjuntak from Balai Besar BMKG Medan. The training focused on the use of the BMKG data to image crustal structure beneath the Toba Region. At the end of the training, all the participants were able to image the Toba Caldera and the subducted slab beneath the Caldera.
After the training, the Geophysics Division leader of BMKG Medan, Mr. Lewi Ristianto and the Vice Director of TDMRC agreed to strengthen the collaboration between the two institutions. Balai Besar BMKG Medan, together with TDMRC, proposes to publish recent seismicity in Aceh and Northern Sumatra as one of the efforts in disaster risk reduction.
