Banda Aceh – The Mineral and Oil and Gas Exploration Laboratory of Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in collaboration with the Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center (TDMRC) on “Kajian Risiko Bencana Sumur Minyak di Kabupaten Aceh Timur dan Kabupaten Aceh Bireun”.
In the FGD which was held on Wednesday, November 01, 2023, the Vice Chancellor for Planning, Partnership and Business, Dr. Ir. Taufik Saidi, M.Eng., IPU and Director of TDMRC Prof. Dr. Syamsidik, S.T., M.Sc were also present to deliver remarks as well as opening the FGD.
In his speech, Dr. Taufik Saidi said “The problem arising from traditional oil mining is the impact of environmental pollution that occurs around the mining area. The pollution can be in the form of water pollution, soil pollution and air pollution. This pollution can have various impacts on the environment and surrounding communities. Therefore, the Disaster Risk Assessment of Oil Wells in Perlak, East Aceh and Alue Peuno, Bireuen is important. ”
The FGD also invited representatives from PT Pembangunan Aceh (PEMA), Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Aceh (BPBA), Dinas Lingkungan Hidup (DLHK), PT Medco E&P, Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Daerah (BAPPEDA), Dinas Energi dan Dinas Sumber Daya Mineral (ESDM) Aceh.
Muchlis, S.Si., M.Sc as the Head of the Research Team became the moderator as well as the presenter in this FGD activity. The purpose of this FGD is to explore the views of each individual regarding the Oil Well Disaster Risk Assessment in East Aceh and Aceh Bireun Districts.
After this FGD activity ended, the FGD participants were invited to see existing facilities at TDMRC such as the Tsunami Wave Flume Laboratory, Shaking Table Laboratory and Earthquake Observation Laboratory.
