ThisprojectwasfundedbytheAlumniGrantScheme (AGS),AustraliaAwardsIndonesia(AAI)in2022.TheTDMRCUSKresearchteam, representedbyRizannaRosemary, MHC, PhDandDr. MartyMawarpury,M.Psi. Thisprojectaimstodevelop a psychologicalpreparednessconstructfordisasters in the Indonesiancontext,drawnfromactionresearchstudiesonat–riskanddisaster–affectedcommunitiesinIndonesia.Specifically, theprojectexplorespsychologicalcharacteristics and constructsthataffectpeople‘s abilitytoanticipateuncertainfutureevents such as disasters, includinghealth–related ones suchasCOVID–19,andusedintargetcommunities. Through the SystematicLiteratureReview (SLR) method, a psychologicalpreparednesstesttool for disasters hasbeendeveloped, forthefirsttime, and isused to measureanestimatedtotalof900people in threeselectedareasinYogyakarta, Aceh, and WestSulawesiProvinces, (Sleman, BandaAceh, and Mamuju)withdifferentlevels of lifeexperience to disasters,andexposuretocommunitydisasterpreparednessprograms.Thisincludes the mostin–at–risk communitygroups,suchaspeoplewithdisabilitiesandtheelderly.Anunderstanding of the level of psychological preparednessof community membersisexpectedtoinform the community and disaster managers(government and non–government)forpre–planning assistance andpsychologicalassistanceintheeventofadisaster.Figure3–5:PreparedProjectenumeratortrainingsimultaneouslyonlineinthreecities, BandaAceh–Sleman–Mamuju(November 12,2022). Theproject will alsocreatea “peer-to-peer“mechanism to buildrelationshipsbetween disaster responderswhowillbetrainedtofacilitatelocalcommunitiespre–planningandaccesspsychological assistance orassistanceindisasterevents. Theprojectwillindirectlyincrease the awareness and knowledge of academics, policymakers, disaster and humanitarianorganizations, and communitiesconcernedwithpsychologicalpreparednessthroughanumber of communicationchannels, includinglearningworkshops/seminars, and theproductionofpolicyandpracticesummaries.Researchsurveysareconductedofflineandonline.Tosupportthisresearch,pleaseparticipatebyfillingoutthefollowingsurvey.
