TDMRC, MIK, and DIB USK Present Disaster Education at Bhayangkara Festival 2026 at Aceh Regional Police Headquarters

Banda Aceh, June 19, 2026 — Universitas Syiah Kuala, through USK Public Relations, presented the Universitas Syiah Kuala Exhibition Booth at Bhayangkara Festival 2026, held from June 19 to 22, 2026, at the Aceh Regional Police Headquarters. USK’s participation in the festival served as a strategic platform to introduce its academic contributions, research, innovation, and disaster education to the wider community.

In the exhibition, USK Public Relations collaborated with several leading university units and programs, including the Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center Universitas Syiah Kuala, or TDMRC USK; the Master’s Program in Disaster Science, or MIK USK; the Doctoral Program in Disaster Science, or DIB USK; the Inovac-ARC USK Cooperative; and a display of recycled-material handicrafts from the Faculty of Agriculture USK.

The presence of TDMRC USK, MIK USK, and DIB USK became one of the key highlights of the exhibition booth. The three institutions introduced USK’s role in strengthening disaster literacy, disaster mitigation, disaster education, and research development relevant to Aceh’s context as a region with significant disaster experience and a relatively high level of disaster risk.

Through TDMRC USK, visitors received information about various research, education, and community service activities conducted in the field of disaster risk reduction. TDMRC USK also introduced the importance of community preparedness in facing potential disasters, ranging from earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods to other hydrometeorological hazards.

Meanwhile, MIK USK and DIB USK introduced the role of higher education in producing human resources with a deeper understanding of disaster-related issues. These master’s and doctoral programs are part of USK’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of academics, practitioners, researchers, government officials, and communities in developing a more science-based disaster management system.

The exhibition booth not only presented institutional information, but also served as a medium for public education. Visitors learned more about how USK contributes to building a disaster-aware culture through research, education, training, and social innovation. This aligns with USK’s spirit as a higher education institution that actively responds to community needs, particularly in disaster issues and regional resilience.

In addition to the disaster sector, USK Public Relations also presented the Inovac-ARC USK Cooperative and recycled-material handicraft products from the Faculty of Agriculture USK. The presence of these products demonstrated that USK is not only active in academics and research but also promotes innovation, entrepreneurship, environmental sustainability, and the reuse of valuable materials.

USK’s participation in the Bhayangkara Festival 2026 is expected to strengthen relations among the university, police institutions, government, and the community. This event also serves as a momentum to broaden public understanding of the importance of cross-sector collaboration in building a resilient, safe, and disaster-aware society.

Through this exhibition booth, USK reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its presence in society through science, research, education, and innovation. Particularly through TDMRC USK, MIK USK, and DIB USK, Universitas Syiah Kuala continues to strengthen its role as a center for disaster science development in Indonesia.
