Banda Aceh – Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center (TDMRC) has organized a pivotal Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in the design of a documentary film and mini drama commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Aceh Tsunami. This FGD, to be held on March 15, 2024, in Banda Aceh, is a crucial step that will shape the narrative and timeline of our production.

This FGD aims to determine the title and set a timeline for the production of documentary films and mini-dramas. The FGD was led by Deni Yanuar, S.IP., M.IKom as the Coordinator of documentary films and mini-dramas and Prof. Syamsidik as the Director of TDMRC and Dr. Rina Suryani Okari also attended. This movie will also be worked on by the TDMRC Prouduction Team.

Based on this discussion, the title of the documentary film was “Risalah Ombak Serambi Mekkah.” This movie will describe the impact of the Aceh Tsunami on the cultural, social and religious aspects of the Acehnese people. Meanwhile, the mini-drama “Akan Ada Jalan” will tell the story of a family separated by tragedy but eventually reunited through spirit and resilience.

Production Objective:

  • Documentary Film: Aims to inform and remind the public about the changes after the tsunami and motivate the people of Aceh today to move forward.
  • Mini Drama: Aims to deliver a message of hope and resilience that can inspire everyone that nothing is impossible if we keep trying.
