On May 22, 2024, the team dedicated to creating an infographic book commemorating 20 years since the Aceh tsunami made a significant data request to the Archive of Statics and Tsunami (BAST)—ANRI. This request was part of the ongoing efforts to compile comprehensive visual and historical data for the book, which aims to provide a detailed visual narrative of the tsunami and its aftermath.

Archives Requested:

1. Pre-tsunami photographs of Aceh: These images depict the region before the disaster, providing a stark contrast to the post-tsunami visuals.
2. Photographs during the tsunami event in Aceh: Capturing the immediate impact and the severity of the tsunami as it happened.
3. Photographs of rehabilitation and reconstruction: Documenting the rebuilding efforts that followed the destruction.
4. Photographs of the recovery process: Showing the progression of recovery over time and the resilience of the affected communities.
5. Current photographs of Aceh: Illustrating the transformations and developments in Aceh as it stands today.
6. Maps or aerial photos of Aceh and surrounding areas: These include before, after, and ongoing recovery progress visualizations.

The archives, which are readily available at BAST, will be accessed with the guidance of BAST staff to ensure the infographic book team can utilize them effectively. This data will be pivotal in creating a detailed and informative book that honors the memory of the tsunami and highlights the progress made in Aceh over the last two decades.
