Banda Aceh, (September 20, 2024) – The Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center (TDMRC) at Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) is thrilled to announce the upcoming International Symposium on Tsunami Disaster Mitigation, scheduled for November 07, 2024 in Aceh, Indonesia. Therefore, the committee held an internal meeting to prepare for this event, which was coordinated by Dr. Syahrul Ridha and Prof. Syamsidik, the Director of TDMRC. This crucial international seminar aims to gather prominent experts and researchers from across the globe to exchange insights on cutting-edge strategies and technological advances in the field of tsunami risk reduction. The event will feature an impressive line-up of speakers, including Dr. Gerry Potutan & Dr. Mifune Yasumichi from the Asian Disaster Reduction Center (ADRC), Associate Prof. Anawat Suppasri from IRIDES Tohoku University, and others. This event is supported by BAPPEDA Aceh Province, BPBA Aceh Province and ADRC.

The international seminar will also include a wide variety of sessions, such as keynotes, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, all focusing on the latest research outcomes and practical applications in disaster mitigation. To ensure inclusivity and global participation, the event will accommodate a hybrid format. Traditional local performances will grace the opening ceremony, adding a cultural depth to the gathering.
