Hybrid Training Modules

This training consists of 5 (five) modules and 10 (ten) sessions which deliver in 4 (four days). By using active learning strategies (discussion, exercise, and simulations), this training will discover more about concepts and practices in disaster management, the importance of science communication strategies in DRR, the critical concept of knowledge management, and the disaster risk communication approach and the innovative project of youth and early carer researchers in DRR.

Module 1: Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Overview in the Contect of Tsunami in Indonesia – Japan

Duration: 180 minutes

Outline:

● Definitions of risk, hazard, vulnerability, capacities,

● Global Framework in DRR, etc.


Module 2: Introduction of the Importance and Effectiveness of Science Communication (Disaster Risk Communication/DRC)

Duration: 180 minutes

Outline:

● Disaster Risk Communication concept,

● Frameworks of Disaster Risk Communication in building the effectiveness of science communication, etc.


Module 3: Knowledge Management Approach for Science Communication Strategies in Disaster RIsk Reduction (DRR)

Duration: 180 minutes

Outline:

● The key concept of Knowledge Management for DRR,

● Practical examples of the role of local and indigenous knowledge, local practices within science and DRR, etc.


Module 4: Innovative Project for Science Communication Strategies in DRR for Youth and Early Career Researchers

Duration: 180 minutes

Outline:

● Communicating science into simple context

● Knowledge capturing and packeging, etc.


Module 5: Effective Science Communication for Science Museum and Other Institutional Settings

Duration: 180 minutes

Outline:

● Disaster management paradigm,

● Role of institutions in DRR,

● The importance of science communication, etc.
