Banda Aceh – In an effort to strengthen collaboration in research and education, the Deputy of Geophysics team from BMKG, led by Dr. Nelly Florida Riama, S.Si., M.Si., has visited Syiah Kuala University (USK). The team was accompanied by several prominent officials from BMKG, including the Head of the Center Dr. Daryono, S.Si, M.Si, who serves as the Head of the Earthquake & Tsunami Center, Adityawarman, S.Si., MM, Acting Head of the Center for Education and Training, Hendro Nugroho, ST., M.Si, Head of the Major Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) Region I Medan, Nasrol Adil, S.Si., MT., Head of the Sultan Iskandar Muda Meteorological Station, Andi Azhar Rusdin, S.Si., MT., along with the Head of the Aceh Besar Geophysics Station, Mr. Muhajir, M.Si., and the Head of the Aceh Climatology Station.
The visit aimed to discuss broader collaboration opportunities between BMKG and various faculties and study programs at USK, particularly those related to geophysics and disaster mitigation. The discussions explored various aspects of collaboration, from data and information exchange, joint research development, to capacity building through education and training programs. The hope is that this collaboration will expand the insights and capabilities of both parties in facing and managing geophysical disasters in the future.
